This semester I am enrolled in Dr. Michael Christy's Management Course, Topics in Business Literature. Today is the first day of class but I had the opportunity during a near-endless winter break to 'devour' the book, "The Upside of Irrationality" by Dan Ariely.
Find it. Buy it. Read it. This book is incredible. It offers insight into multiple aspects of social science and how humans, a lot of the time, have no idea how out of touch with reality we truly are.
From the back cover: "Once again, Dan Ariely takes us on a funny, fascinating, alarming tour of our own irrational minds. You'll never look at money, work, romance, revenge, politics, medicine, shopping, or happiness the same way again."--David Pogue, New York Times technology columnist
This quick synopsis is right on target.
To whet your appetite, here is a Ted Talk video (see below) Ariely gave a couple of years ago.
